capitolARVC's 2009 National Issues Conference (NIC) is sure to be a very interesting event.  Lots is going on in Washington these days and we are going to give you the inside news on issues of interest and importance to all of us.  John Satagai, President of the Small Business Legislative Council (SBLC) will kick off the day on Wednesday at breakfast with his views of Washington politics and small business issues delivered with candor and his touch of humor.

You also won't want to miss listening to and interacting with our friends Richard Coon, President of RVIA and a representative from RVDA about what they are facing in today's economy and prospects for the future.  (Mike Molino would have been attending, but will be enjoying a vacation in Italy.)

The ARVC National Issues Conference provides a unique opportunity for ARVC members to personally take our message to legislators and regulators in our nation’s capitol. Newly elected legislators and long-time representatives alike are seeking input from small business professionals and this is your chance to speak out and make a difference. The ARVC NIC is a critical opportunity to discuss legislative issues of importance to your livelihood and to communicate the RV parks and campground message to Congress in a unified fashion particularly amid unprecedented economic concerns.   Let your voice be heard!

Special Offer or "Bailout or Stimulus Package"!
The National Issues Conference is preceded by the Campground Association of Meeting Professionals (CAMP) meeting in College Park, Maryland.  I hope many of you will attend that event and choose to stay on for the National Issues Conference.  As an enticement, we are offering a one time only price (or "bailout" as everyone is saying these days) of $75 to CAMP attendees, to attend the first half day of the conference.  The first day's events will be held in the new U.S. Capitol Visitor Center.  Aubrey King attended a meeting there earlier this year and said the setting was impressive.

We've also reduced the price of the entire event by $50, so the price to attend the full meeting is just $250.  Meals are included in the price.  Take a look at the agenda attached -- some great speakers and topics are being presented and we've got a few more possibilities.  There may also be an opportunity to meet Chief Justice Clarence Thomas who is an avid RVer.

Where to Stay?

I sincerely hope that you will choose to stay at the Sheraton National Arlington.  Micki Leak tells me it has beautiful views of Washington, DC and the Potomac, plus is convenient to the metro and shopping.  The deadline for hotel reservations is April 1 and the rate is $135 plus tax (not bad by Washington standards).
